Technical expertise isn’t built by simply understanding it—it’s built by putting it into practice.

From April to May, Unilumin’s GTS team delivered a two-month UCE Technical Training Program in the UK, bringing together over 80 engineers from 30 professional AV partners.

Covering both fixed installation and rental applications, the program was designed with structured, tiered learning modules, combining classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and rigorous assessments. This year’s training placed a stronger focus on real-world scenarios with a clear goal: to help our partner participants turn technical knowledge into practical problem-solving skills that they can apply in the field.

Tailored Training for Different Experience Levels and Specializations

LED display technology spans multiple dimensions, including installation, commissioning, calibration, and maintenance. Engineers at different experience levels therefore have very different needs. To address this, Unilumin’s GTS team designed five tailored training modules:

2

  • New Starter Program

Designed for junior engineers, this module breaks down the fundamentals of LED technology step by step—from core principles and installation processes to initial system setup. It also includes dedicated sessions on on-site safety practices and common LED display troubleshooting, helping newcomers avoid common pitfalls in real project environments.

3

  • Skill Upgrade Program

Designed for experienced engineers who have not previously attended UCE training, this module focuses on resolving frequent on-site challenges. Upon completion, participants are able to independently handle system commissioning for small to medium-sized projects.

4

  • Advanced Technical Mastery

Designed for UCE-certified engineers and technical leads, this module targets advanced and complex scenarios, covering topics such as COB/MIP installation guidelines, multi-batch calibration, and load calculation. It equips engineers to resolve the most challenging on-site issues beyond standard practice.

5

  • UTV Specialized Training

A dedicated program focused on Unilumin’s UTV COB all-in-one series, covering installation, commissioning, and maintenance. It is designed to meet the demanding requirements of high-end applications.

  • Rental Specialized Training

Focused on the fast-paced rental market, this session addresses rapid installation and dismantling, high turnover workflows, system setup, maintenance tools, and quick troubleshooting techniques for on-site issues.

More Hands-On Practice, Doubled Training Time

Theory accounts for only 50%—the other 50% is hands-on practice. This is the most significant shift in this year’s UCE training program.

Based on last year’s feedback requesting more practical sessions, Unilumin’s GTS team has fully restructured the course design:

  • After every half-day of theory teaching, participants immediately move into intensive hands-on practice sessions
  • Hands-on practice covers everything from cabinet assembly & disassembly to sending card connection, from system configuration and calibration file loading to dark/light line correction

The training environment is fully equipped with real project hardware—including sending cards, steel structures, LED cabinets, installation tools, and various cables—creating a true real-world practice setup for engineers to learn by doing.

Stricter Standards, Deeper Assessments of Real Capability

Another major shift this year is a fully upgraded assessment system.

Practical evaluations are no longer pre-set procedural exercises, but real-world fault scenarios—including display blackout, missing calibration files, visible dark/light lines, and controller configuration errors. Participants must independently diagnose and resolve issues within a limited timeframe.

“Compared to following procedures in the past, this year requires a true understanding of underlying principles,” shared one GTS engineer.

With the greater difficulty, pass rates have naturally decreased—not due to lower capability, but because standards are now closer to real on-site project requirements. Every certified participant is capable of independently resolving on-site technical issues. At Unilumin, certification is not a participation badge—it is proof of capability.

Beyond Training: Our Commitment to Technology

  • Tiered learning ensures every participant starts from the right level and progresses effectively.
  • Hands-on, field-driven training ensures every minute is directly tied to real project needs.
  • Rigorous assessments ensure every certification carries real value.

We have always believed that customer growth is what drives the advancement of the industry.

The 2026 UCE Training Program in the UK has concluded, but our commitment to technical empowerment continues.
